Born in Istanbul. He began his studies studying guitar. He finished his vocal studies in TC.Mimar Sinan State Conservatory.  Then he went to Bologna and  specialised in Baroque and BelCanto repertoire; in Scuola dell'Opera Italiana. Right after he became be a member of SemperOper Dresdens' Junges Ensembl where he established a strong connection with the company; He often returns to sing. Other then opera he enjoys singing art song recitals and sacred pieces such as Bach, Handel and Mozart's oratorios.  
       Young Turkish tenor Mert Süngü performed under the baton of leading conductors such as Fabio Luisi, Nello Santi, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Christian Thielemann... on Europe's finest venues such as Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Berlin Deutsche Oper, Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, Sächsische Staatsoper SemperOper Dresden, Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
       Süngü sang under the baton of leading conductors such as Fabio Luisi, Nello Santi, Christian Thielemann, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Donato Renzetti, Omer Meir Wellber, Massimo Zanetti, Michele Mariotti, Julia Jones and Diego Fasolis...
       He appeared in productions signed by
Graham Vick, Willy Decker, Franco Zeffirelli, Filippo Crivelli, Grischa Asagaroff, Mario Martone, Davide Livermore...
